Where can I get a LogBand?

Currently, only Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts members who choose Carbon Health as their Virtual Primary Care provider will receive a LogBand as part of a Welcome Kit.

How do I turn on my LogBand?

Charge your LogBand device by plugging it into a USB port (if you have a newer USB-C port, you can use the included adapter). Once the device starts flashing green, follow the steps in the Quick Start Guide (opens in a new tab) to connect it to the Carbon Health app. When plugged in, the light on your device will be solid orange as it charges and green once the LogBand is paired and fully charged.

How do I connect or pair the LogBand to the Carbon Health app?

Go to the “Devices” section in the Carbon Health Patient App. Find LogBand and tap “Connect” and follow the prompts. You can also use the QR code found in the Quick Start Guide (opens in a new tab)

What do the different-sized buttons mean?

The two buttons allow you to quickly log health events in the Carbon Health App. The events can vary depending on what you choose to log. For well-being a big button press logs"thumbs up" and the small button press logs "thumbs down. For cough, headache, and pain a big button press logs "severe" and a small button press logs "not severe".

How do I insert the device into the Band?

You can insert the device into the opening on the underside of the band. Be sure the arrow on the device lines up with the arrow on the underside of the band.

The band is too long for my wrist. What should I do?

If the band is too long for your wrist, you can shorten it by cutting it with scissors. There are notches on the long end of the band, which indicate where you can cut. NOTE: Don’t cut more than six links off of the band. Be careful when disposing of the excess band that was cut, it contains magnets that should not be handled by small children.

What wrist sizes does the band suit?

The band fits most wrist sizes. If the band is too long, you can cut it down:

  • With no links removed (largest): 24cm / 9.4"
  • With 6 links removed (smallest): 13.5cm / 5.3"

NOTE:

Don't cut more than six links off of the band. Be careful when disposing of the excess band that was cut, as it contains magnets that should not be handled by small children.

Where do I find the serial number?

There is a 12-digit serial number etched into the Module (in a half-circle around the button next to the end with the USB connector). If there is more than one device on and in Bluetooth pairing mode, you'll be asked to confirm the last 4 digits of the serial number, etched around the lower button of the device as shown

What do the different LED colors mean on my LogBand?

  • Bluetooth pairing: Blinking green
  • Battery charging: Solid yellow/orange
  • Full battery: Solid green
  • Low battery: Blinking red

How do I log a health event with my LogBand?

You can log health events by using the buttons on your LogBand. The category you selected in the Carbon Health app determines what a big and small button press represents. You can change the category, add new logs, and/or update existing logs with more details and notes in the Carbon Health app.

Well-being: How are you feeling right now?

  • Big Button press represents "Thumbs Up"
  • Small Button press represents "Thumbs Down"

Pain: What is your pain severity right now?

  • Big Button press represents "Severe"
  • Small Button press represents "Not severe"

Headache: What is your headache severity right now?

  • Big Button press represents "Severe"
  • Small Button press represents "Not severe"

Cough: How severe was your cough?

  • Big Button press represents "Severe"
  • Small Button press represents "Not severe"

How do I know my LogBand recorded the Log?

When you push the Large button the LogBand should vibrate twice. When you push the Small button the LogBand should vibrate once. Once you pair your LogBand to your Carbon Health app, your logs via the LogBand should sync automatically with the Carbon Health app You can view your logged events in the “Health Data” section of the app.

How do I know how much battery my LogBand has?

In the Carbon Health App, go to Health Data > My Devices > My LogBand. You will see a message in the app when your LogBand is at less than 10%. The LED light will also flash red when you press a button when the LogBand is less than 10%.

How do I charge my LogBand device?

To charge the LogBand device, plug it into a USB-A port, or insert the module into the adapter provided and plug the adapter into a USB-C adapter. The status LED will be orange/yellow while charging and then turn solid green once the LogBand device is fully charged.

What kind of power supply should I use to charge the LogBand device?

Only use a USB power supply that is certified by a recognized standard.

Can I charge the LogBand device if it’s wet?

No, do not charge your LogBand device if it is wet.

Is the LogBand waterproof?

The LogBand is water resistant, but not waterproof. Take the band off before you do activities like swimming or taking a bath/shower.

Does the LogBand track heart rate?

No, the LogBand does not record your heart rate.

Does the LogBand provide push notifications for things like texts and emails?

No, the LogBand doesn’t provide push notifications for events outside of the Carbon Health App.

Is there an extra cost or subscription needed to use the LogBand?

No, you don’t have to pay anything extra to use the LogBand.

Does it matter which hand I wear my LogBand on?

No, you can wear the LogBand on either wrist, or where you’d normally wear a watch.

Can I use the LogBand device as a thumb drive for saving data?

No. The LogBand cannot be used as a thumb drive.

What’s the battery life on my LogBand?

The average battery life of your LogBand (when it’s fully-charged) is four days. Fully charging your LogBand can take up to four hours.

I don’t see "LogBand" listed as an option to connect under “Devices”

Please ensure you have the most updated version of the Patient App. You can check if your App is the most updated. You can see if your App needs to be updated by going to the Apple (opens in a new tab) or Google Play (opens in a new tab) stores on your device.

You can also see your App version by tapping on your settings, found in the bottom right of the Carbon App, and scrolling all the way down.

Will the LogBand's magnets impact other medical devices, such as a pacemaker?

The LogBand's band does use magnets. Please consult your provider if you have any concerns or questions before wearing the LogBand According the American Heart Association (opens in a new tab): If you have an ICD or pacemaker, avoid close or prolonged contact with magnets or their magnetic fields. Keep magnets at least six inches from where your device is implanted.Of course, you may not always know if you have come into proximity with machinery that uses a magnet. It’s best to err on the safe side. Avoid magnet therapy that may call for you to wear magnetic bracelets or necklaces near your implantation site.

What is Logging?

Logging is a quick way to track a wide variety of health events. When something noteworthy happens (you start coughing, you have a headache come on, you go for a long run, etc), you can make a note of it with just a button push. You can add more details to these events after you use the LogBand’s buttons to track them. This information will give your provider better insight into your overall health the next time you have a visit.

Is My Device Compatible With the Carbon Health App?

Your device needs to meet the following requirements to be able to use the Carbon Health App:

  • Your iOS device needs to be running iOS 11.0 or later
  • Your Android device needs to be running Android 6.0 ("Marshmallow") or later

How does Logging help improve my health?

Logging provides a more accurate overview of things going on with your health over a longer period of time. Logging these events lets you keep track of things you might have forgotten about otherwise, as well as provide insights like how often they’re happening. As providers make decisions about ordering tests or starting medications, it is important that they have an accurate history of your symptoms.

What events can I Log?

You can log the following health events or symptoms:

  • Well-being
  • Pain
  • Headaches
  • Coughs

Can I edit and add supplemental information and notes to events I logged with my LogBand

You can edit and add supplemental information to your logs by going into the “Health Data” and tapping on the log you wish to update.

Can I Delete a Log?

You can delete a log by going into the “Health Data” and tapping on the log you wish to delete. Scroll to the bottom of the supplemental questions and tap on “Delete Log”

Can I Log Events With the Carbon Health App?

You can Log Events directly in the Carbon Health App. Go to “Health Data” and tap on “+ Add New Log”. From here you can also provide supplemental information and notes related to your Log.

How will my provider use my logged data?

Providers can use logged data to get an overview of how things are going for you and what actions you are taking. By logging them when they happen, you will have more accurate data than they might receive if you were trying to remember at a visit.

How do I view or see my logs?

Log into the Carbon Health Patient App and tap on the “Health Data” icon. You can see a list of your logs, where you can click in to add additional details about your logged event or add log

How do I change the category or type event I can log with my LogBand?

Open the app, make sure you’re signed in, tap on "Devices" > "My LogBand", there will be a button on the screen with “Change” which will let you select what you’re logging

How do I update or add more details to a logged event?

You can go to your list of log entries under Health Data, tap on a specific entry, and it’ll open to reveal supplemental questions and a place for notes related to your log.

How do I unpair my device?

You can unpair your device through the Carbon Health app. Go into My Devices, tap on LogBand Device, scroll down to the bottom and select "Unpair."

You also need to go into your Bluetooth settings on your mobile device and forget the LogBand from your list of devices.

NOTE: Please ensure the LogBand is charged, in range of your phone, and connected to the phone before attempting to unpair to ensure you synced any remaining data from your LogBand.

How do I check my LogBand battery level?

Make sure your Bluetooth is on and your mobile device is within ten feet of your LogBand. Open the Carbon App > Health Data > My Devices > My LogBand here you can see the battery level. The battery level is only accurate if your LogBand is currently connected to the Carbon App.

Can I pair my LogBand with another app (i.e. Apple Health, Fitbit, Strava, etc)?

The LogBand doesn’t pair with other apps.

Can I pair my LogBand with two different phones?

No, your LogBand can only be paired with one mobile device at a time.

What happens if I log out of the app?

After you sign back in, you will have to go through the pairing process again. The event logging category will default to Well-being, but you can go into your devices and change the category.

I accidentally didn’t allow Bluetooth permission, how can I do it?

I got my LogBand wet, what should I do?

The LogBand should not be worn in the shower, while bathing or swimming. If your LogBand gets wet, let it completely dry before attempting to charge it again.

I accidentally pushed a button or the wrong button what can I do?

You can go into the app and edit the log by going to “Health Data” then tapping on the Log that you want to edit. From there you can edit what you logged and add supplemental information. You can also scroll to the bottom and tap on “Delete Log” to completely remove the log from your records.

I cannot get my LogBand to pair or sync with the Carbon Health App anymore. What should I do?

  • Make sure your LogBand has been charged for at least one hour
  • Make sure your LogBand is within 10 feet of your phone or device
  • Make sure your Bluetooth is on
  • Make sure your Carbon App is up to date by checking your Apple App Store (opens in a new tab) or Google Play Store (opens in a new tab)
  • First make sure Bluetooth is on and permissions are granted for the Patient App
  • iOS: Go to Settings > Privacy > Bluetooth > and then switch Carbon's access to the ON position
  • Android: Go to System Settings > Apps Permissions > make sure Bluetooth is checked

If your LogBand was previously paired with your phone but is still no longer syncing after completing the above steps, try to first unpair your LogBand in the Carbon App (Devices > My LogBand > Unpair).

Then, before you attempt to pair again, make sure you have forgotten or removed LogBand from the list of Devices in your Bluetooth settings. After your LogBand is removed or forgotten from your Bluetooth devices, make sure your LogBand LED is blinking green and start the pairing process again.

If it still is not connecting, please try to Factory Reset your LogBand by holding both buttons for at least 10 seconds until it vibrates and flashes orange and then green. Please note this will erase any data that has not been synced.

Double check that you do not have LogBand in your list of Devices in your Bluetooth settings before attempting to pair again in the Carbon app after the Factory Reset.

I don’t see "LogBand" listed as an option to connect under “Devices” in the Carbon Health app

Please ensure you have the most updated version of the Carbon Health App. You can check if your app is the most updated. You can see if your app needs to be updated by going to the Apple (opens in a new tab) or Google Play (opens in a new tab) stores on your device.

My LogBand does not vibrate when I press a button.

If you just got your LogBand, then your device is likely in shipping mode meaning you have to plug it into the USB port to force the LogBand device into pairing mode (green LED should start blinking). Your battery can also be low, please charge the battery for at least one hour.

The device is paired but does not log button presses in the Carbon App

If your device is paired but not syncing logs, check the LogBand's battery levels: If it's at less than 20%, please charge it for at least an hour. Also ensure that your LogBand is within ten feet of your mobile device and that Bluetooth is turned on.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, try updating the Carbon App in the app store https://carbonhealth.com/download (opens in a new tab).

My LogBand device is not charging. What should I do?

If your LogBand Device isn't charging as per usual, try plugging it directly into a different USB-A port for at least one hour to confirm the unit won't receive a charge. If it still isn't charging, please contact our support team at +1 (888) 851-6481.

I don’t see LogBand as connected in the app

  • Make sure the LogBand is charged. If you're not sure, please charge it for at least one hour.
  • Make sure your LogBand is within ten feet of your cellular devices.
  • Make sure your Bluetooth is on and that LogBand is listed as a device that is connected in your Bluetooth Settings.

iOS: Make sure you've approved the Bluetooth access (opens in a new tab) to the Carbon Application (to do this, go to Settings > Privacy > Bluetooth > and then switch Carbon's access to the ON position).

Android: Make sure you've approved Bluetooth access (opens in a new tab) to the Carbon Application (to do this, go to System Settings > Apps Permissions > make sure Bluetooth is checked).

Also, double-check that your Carbon App is up-to-date in the Apple App Store (opens in a new tab) and Google Play Store (opens in a new tab).

I accidentally removed my LogBand from my Bluetooth settings. I am not able to reconnect anymore, how can I do it?

In this case, you'll have to factory reset your device by holding the two buttons for 10 seconds until the device vibrates and you see the LED blinking orange and then green. After that, please repeat the pairing process outlined in the Quick Start Guide (opens in a new tab).

Restoring your LogBand to its factory settings will delete any data stored within the device and it won't be able to sync with the app until you reconnect it.

My LogBand isn’t syncing my data. What should I do?

If your LogBand isn't syncing your data, check to make sure it's charged. To do this quickly, press a button to log an event: If it's got a charge, the LogBand will vibrate. If there's no vibration or the LED flashes red when you push a button, plug the module into a USB-A port to charge it.

Please make sure your LogBand is within 10 ft of your device.

Check if your LogBand is connected in the app by going to "Devices" then tap on "LogBand." Also, check that it's connected in your phone's Bluetooth settings. If the LogBand isn't connected, then go through the connection steps 1 & 2 outlined in the quick start guide (opens in a new tab).

How do I restore my LogBand to factory settings?

Restoring your LogBand to its factory settings will delete any data currently stored within the device and it won't be able to sync any new data with the app until you go through the pairing process again.

To factory reset:

  • Ensure the LogBand is charged
  • Unpair the LogBand from within the app
  • Forget LogBand as a device in your phone's Bluetooth settings
  • Perform a factory reset
  1. Hold down both buttons until the device vibrates and flashes yellow/orange, about ten seconds. It should start flashing green after the factory reset.
  2. Confirm that the device is no longer paired with the Carbon Health App

How does Carbon Health use my data?

We use your data so we can provide healthcare services to you and for no other purpose.

Is my data private?

Yes. All of your data (including LogBand data) is treated as medical data and receives all the protections that both HIPAA and Carbon Health provide. This means your data will be used for healthcare operations and healthcare services provided to you and for no other reason, and we will never sell your data.

No, the LogBand does not track (or record) your location.

What is LogBand’s safety information?

LogBand is not a medical device and is intended for general wellness and fitness purposes only. LogBand does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Module and Adapter may present a choking hazard to small children. Keep them out of reach of small children. This is not a toy.
